Padma Awards
Padma Awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day, based on the recommendation of the award committee and after the approval of the President, the Prime Minister and Home Minister. It is one of the highest civilian awards in the country. The Central Government has announced the Padam Awards On the eve of Republic Day.
These awards are conferred at the Rashtrapati Bhavan of India in a ceremony usually held around March or April every year.
This year 29 are women, 10 persons under the category of foreigners, NRI, PIO AND OCI and one transgender Out of 119 Padma awardees. On the other hand 16 people have been given the award posthumously.

1. Shinzo Abe
Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan award. He has been awarded for outstanding work in the field of public service. During his tenure, there was considerable progress in bilateral relations between India and Japan.
2. SP Balasubramanian
SP Balasubrahmanyam is famous singer and sang over 40,000 songs in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam in a 50-year singing career.
He has also acted as music director in more than 40 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages. He has been awarded the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2011. He died on 25 September 2020.
3. Dr. Belle Monappa Hegde
Dr. Belle Monappa Hegde is a famous cardiologist from Karnataka. He has also written several books on medical practice and ethics. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award in 2010.
4. Narinder Singh Kapani -
Narinder Singh Kapani is an Indian American physicists. Fiber-optics communications, lasers, biomedical instrumentation, solar power and pollution monitoring are major inventions of him.
Besides this he holds more than a hundred patents and was a member of the National Inventors Council. He coined the term fiber optics in 1956.
He was also nominated by Forbes Magazine as Unsung Heroes in Businessman of the Century Edition.
5. Maulana Waheeduddin Khan
Maulana Waheeduddin Khan famous Islamic scholar and peace activist. He was awarded the Demirgus Peace International Award by President Mikhail Gorbachev during the Soviet Union.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2000. He is known for his translation of Quran into simple and contemporary English.

6. Bibi Lal
Bibi Lal is famous archaeologist of Delhi. He has been the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). There was a lot of debate about his book 'Ram, his historicity, temples and bridges: literature, archeology and other sciences'. It was said to be a temple under the disputed structure. He has been given the Padma Bhushan in 2000.

Ram Vilas Paswan was former Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
7. Shri Keshubhai Patel
He was a former Chief Minister of Gujarat in 1995 and from 1998 to 2001.
8. Shri Kalbe Sadiq
Kalbe Sadiq was an Indian Islamic scholar, reformer, educationist, philanthropist and preacher.
9. Shri Rajnikant Devidas Shroff
He is an Industrialist from Maharashtra. He is also founder and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of United Phosphorus Ltd, an Indian MNC founded in 1969.
10. Shri Tarlochan Singh
S. Tarlochan Singh is a Member of the Parliament of India, representing Haryana. He was member of National Human Rights Commission of India from 2003 to 2006. He is known for his efforts for the rescue of sikhs from Afghanistan after the civil war there.
